QPR vs Oxford Match Report

QPR ran out easy winners in their 2-0 victory against a brave Oxford side.

After beating Burton Albion on penalties in the first round of the EFL Carabao Cup, Championship side QPR proved to be a tougher test, currently sitting unbeaten in 5th after 2 wins and 2 draws.

The U’s started lively, and Sam Winnall hit the bar in the 13th minute with the first clear chance of the game. QPR’s quality came up in the 36th minute when former Oxford player Rob Dickie smashed a 20 yarder in for 1-0.

Chambers-Parillon had a good game and was unlucky to deflect a speculative shot over his keeper Eastwood in the 40th minute and the U’s went into the break 2-0 down. Manager Karl Robinson brought on Whyte and Brannagan to try and salvage the game but despite a host of chances were able to break down the organised Championship side, who could afford to sit back and invite the pressure.

So despite a valiant effort, Oxford were unceremoniously dumped out of the EFL cup by a superior side.
