Oxford United vs Wycombe Wanderers Match Report
Oxford suffered frustration in a scrappy game with Wycombe, losing their 100% home record after a 0-0 draw. The U’s struggled to break down their resilient opponents, and had Stevens to thank for some fine saves from Sam Vokes to keep the clean sheet.
Skipper Elliot Moore failed a late fitness test, so Luke McNally replaced him and almost scored before half time with a header from a corner which sailed over.
Herbie Kane again started on the bench mostly thanks to Cameron Brannagan’s scintillating form, and the midfielder twice forced Stockdale into saves as he drove the U’s forward.
It was a physical game, and unusually for manager Karl Robinson he left the substitutions until very late in the game. It possibly could have made the difference introducing fresh legs sooner, but the forward trio of Sykes, Whyte and Taylor did look dangerous.
