Where to find garden furniture for a Cotswolds Garden

When it comes to our gardens, if there is one thing that the events of the last 18 months have taught us is that this outdoor space is so valuable. All too often, we see our gardens as something of a chore with constant lawn mowing and tidying. But, with a little bit of work and the right planting, a garden can become a wonderful oasis in which to relax.

Whether you want to make your garden the perfect place for your children to play, a space to relax in the sunshine with a good book at the end of the day or somewhere to eat al fresco the one things that you will probably want to invest in to make the most of your garden is good quality garden furniture.

Choosing the right garden furniture for your space

Garden furniture, just like gardens, comes in all different shapes and sizes. If you want to get the most from your investment then it is important to thing about exactly what it is that you need before you purchase.

If you have a small garden, then you will probably not want to buy a larger table as you will lose a significant amount of space. A round garden table or a bistro set is a great alternative for a smaller garden and will still seat a couple of people comfortably. A set of garden dining furniture that can be folded away for storage may also be a good choice. This will give you a greater degree of flexibility in how you use your garden.

If you have a larger garden, and especially if you are planning to entertain a lot, you may want to consider a larger table and plenty of seating. This can be a good choice if you have children as well as you will be able to move some activities outdoors in the summer to enjoy the sun. Whether you opt for chairs, benches or a combination for a larger table, this can be a very practical choice. If you also want to use your garden for relaxing, then garden sofas may also be something you will want to think about. These will give you a seating area that you can leave in place during the summer months so that you can get out there as soon as the sun comes out.

Maintenance

There are a number of different types of garden furniture available on the market, some of which will require more maintenance than others. Whilst the size of furniture that you select will obviously be important, it is also worth taking the time to consider just how much time you are prepared to spend on maintenance of your garden furniture each year.

In order to keep wooden garden furniture looking its best it is important to check it over properly every year. The surfaces should be cleaned to remove any dirt, it will then need to be sanded down gently and finally treated with a wood treatment that will help to protect it against the elements. Metal garden furniture should also be checked on a regular basis, cleaned, any rust treated and then protected against the elements.

Plastic furniture requires less maintenance – just a quick scrub to remove any dirt, however over time the affects of the sun can make plastic garden furniture brittle and prone to breaking so you may need to replace it. There are garden furniture options out there that are both maintenance free and waterproof and it can be well worth investing in so that you can spend longer enjoying your garden and less time getting ready to enjoy it.
