Oxford United striker Dan Agyei has joined league one rivals Crewe Alexandra for an undisclosed fee.
The forward signed for the club on 10 August 2019 on a three-year deal from Premier League side Burnley where he made 3 league appearances, after coming through the ranks at AFC Wimbledon.
He made his first-team debut in an EFL Trophy group-stage victory over Norwich City U21 on 3 September 2019, and his league debut as a 78th-minute substitute in a 0–0 draw away at Bolton Wanderers on 17 September 2019.
In total, the 24 year old made a total of 93 appearances for Oxford scoring eleven goals, and previously had loan spells in League One with Coventry City, Walsall and Blackpool.
But U’s manager Karl Robinson found the forward surplus to requirements with his contract expiring in the summer and said of his departure:
“It’s been a pleasure to work with Dan but he needs game time and we hope things work out well for him with a new start. We certainly wish him well and thank him for his efforts here.”
The yellows are scheduled to travel to Crewe Alexandra on the 22nd February in the league game, after the forward was an unused sub in the 1-0 Victory at the Kassam Stadium back in August.
Everyone here at Oxfordshire Guardian wishes Daniel all the best at his new club and will remember his goal against Northampton fondly.
The forward is not the only departure of the transfer window as Joel Cooper joined Port Vale on loan, and regular starter Jordan Thorniley was recalled by parent club Blackpool.
