Residents are being urged join this year’s Santa fun run and help support three local charities.
Organised by Bicester town Council, the festive run takes place on Sunday, December 18, and every runner will get a free Santa suit to wear.
Starting at 11am at Pingle Field, Santas will weave around a 5k course passing Pingle Drive, Oxford Road, North Street, Sheep Street, Market Square, Manorsfield Road, St John’s Street, Queens Avenue, Kings End, Church Lane, Old Place Yard and finishing at Pingle field.
The course is suitable for anyone from runners, walkers, those with buggies, in wheelchairs, on scooters and with dogs.
Before being set off, the fitness team from Anytime Fitness, the Pioneer Square based gym, who are kindly sponsoring the event for a second year running, will warm up competitors.
All those who cross the finish line, back at Pingle field, will receive a bacon roll, with vegan and vegetarian options available, and a medal.
Bicester’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Harry Knight, who is setting off runners, said: “I can’t wait for this event – it really is a wonderful sight to see hundreds of Santas running around Bicester town centre. And taking place the week before Christmas it’s the perfect count down to the big day.
“Please do sign up early and remember there will be no entries allowed on the day.
“We would like to thank our sponsor Anytime Fitness, Tesco who are donating rolls and water, and 1st Bicester Intrepid Scout Group who again have kindly volunteered their spare time to help out and cook the bacon rolls and Bicester Athletics who will be looking after the water station.
Entry costs £10 per adult, £5 for children or £25 for a family ticket covering two adults and two children, plus booking fee, and the money will be donated to the Mayor’s three charities – Nai’s House, Causeway Carers and Bicester and Heyford Veterans.
The price includes a Santa suit, participation medal and bacon roll at the finish line. Suits can be collected from the town council’s office in Garth Park, off Launton Road, Bicester, anytime or before 10.30am on the day of the fun run.
The closing data for registration is Friday, December 9.
