Oxfordshire pub nominated for a European sustainability award.

Longcot pub The King & Queen has been nominated for the European tourism sustainability award “GrINN Awards 2022” -organised by Quartz Inn Hotels- in the category of Best Gastronomy.

The King & Queen is a traditional country inn serving a variety of pub favourites. The menu consists of timeless classics and tasty tapas. All hand crafted by in-house Spanish Chef Francisco Rodriguez Mora.

Most ingredients of the food they serve are sourced from local suppliers where possible, to offer the most sustainable and quality insured food whilst supporting local businesses.

Mr. Rodríguez Mora said:

“We are very happy and proud of this GrINN Awards nomination and the recognition for all our team. In Spain, where I come from, these awards are highly appreciated in the hospitality industry”.

Head Chef Rodriguez Mora comes from Granada, one of the Spanish towns with some of the very best tapas bars and restaurants in Spain. He arrived in the UK 10 years ago and has been in charge of the pub’s kitchen for the last 2 years.

The menu he designed for The King & Queen is a combination of delicious, authentic tapas and popular British classics. In some of the dishes, he has created a fusion of both gastronomies on one plate, such as the grilled salmon served with patatas bravas, chickpeas and fine beans.

So if you have been seeing the sights in Faringdon, it’s worth popping along to King and Queen.

GrINN Awards 2022

The main objective of the organisers of the awards is to promote good sustainable practices in the hospitality sector and to increase general awareness of the impact of hospitality and tourism activities on the environment.

Hotels, pubs and other establishments and tourism leaders from 23 European countries have been nominated and the finalists will be announced in the coming weeks after the jury deliberation. The winners from each of the 50 categories will be chosen among all finalists after a public voting process.
