Local people are getting active this winter to support Soundabout, a charity that uses music to unlock the potential of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
Moveabout is an inclusive challenge where ‘Moveabouters’ set their own target distance and complete it in a way that works for them. This could be anything from wheeling, rolling, swinging, walking, hockey-ing, dog walking, to karate-ing!
There are Moveabouters spread out over the country and beyond; with one individual even attempting to ski 600 miles across the North Slope of Alsaka!
Moveabout runs from 1st January until the 31st March 2023. At this half-way point, Moveabouters have covered over 2,000km together and the kilometres keep on building! Alongside raising vital funds for Soundabout, the challenge encourages people stay active during the cold, dark winter months.
The accessibility and inclusivity of the challenge means that anyone from the Soundabout community and beyond can take part. Our current top challenge fundraisers are Disabled young people who access Soundabout sessions:

He enjoys singing and making music and has made new friends which has really boosted his confidence and he has such a big smile on his face afterwards! So, we are taking part in their Moveabout challenge to walk 100km over 3 months.” Tina
“What does Soundabout mean to us? At it’s simplest the online music sessions we join every week bring joy, smiles and giggles into Adam’s life. It gives him the opportunity to enjoy and share music with others in a way that is meaningful, accessible and suitable to him. For me it’s being part of something, a community, a group, somewhere we fit in.
It’s about making friends with other parents and supporting and championing each other. I can honestly say we would be lost without this charity, which is why I have signed up to this challenge to give something back.” Sally
